For 2010 The Porche 911Features 3.6 Liter Engine
For 2010, Porsche has three beefed-up engines for use in its 911 product line. A 345 horsepower 3.6 liter, six cylinder engine is available in the 911 C2 and the 911 C4. The C2S and the C4S models come with a 385 horsepower, 3.8 liter, six cylinder engine. The Porsche 911 GT3 comes with a 435 horsepower, 3.8 liter, six cylinder engine. All three engines have the cylinders in flat configuration and feature direct injection.
The 3.6 Liter engine features variable valve technology for maximum performance and has a compression ratio of 12.5:1. The DOHC, 24 valve engine produces its 345 horsepower at a rated 6,500 rpm, an increase over previous models. The engine delivers 288 foot pounds of torque at 4,400 rpm. Engine emissions are controlled and power is enhanced through Porsche's Variocam technology that adjusts the intake and exhaust with valve timing as while the car is running.
The 3.8 liter engine in the C2S and C4S cars sport the same 12.5.1 compression ratio as the 3.6 liter engine, but with more power. The 385 horsepower rated at 6,500 rpm is an increase of 30 hp over the 2009 edition; its 310 foot pounds of torques are registered at 4,400 rpm. This engine also features direct fuel injection and a dual inertia flywheel for maximum performance. The fuel economy rating for this engine is 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, identical to the smaller 3.6 liter engine.
The 3.8 liter engine that comes inside the race quality 911 GT3 boasts 435 horsepower, an increase of 20 hp over its predecessor. This engine produces 317 foot pounds of torque at 6,250 rpm. The GT3 accelerates from 0 mph to 60 mph in an astounding four seconds. Porsche's Variocam technology manages both the intake and the exhaust to enhance performance.
