Formula One Arrives In Abu Dhabi Ahead of Grand Prix
Formula One teams have been arriving in Abu Dhabi ahead of the ‘most important' race of the season, and The Official Logistics Partner, DHL has been roaring into action ahead of the world's most prestigious racing series.
Formula One fever is hitting the capital, with the F1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix taking place from 12 to 14 November 2010. Behind the scenes, DHL's logistics experts have been working hard to ensure that the global event runs smoothly, with essential freight such as cars, engines and fuel reaching the capital in time for the region's most anticipated sporting event.
DHL has been providing logistics solutions for Formula One for over 20 years, and has been the Official Logistics Partner since 2004. Throughout the season, tons of highly sensitive freight including cars, engines, TV equipment and fuel had to be moved between 19 races on five continents.
"The turn-around times are demanding with 48 hour delivery to a destination on another continent common place. For all overseas races, DHL works closely with Formula One Management to ensure the freight arrives on time," said a spokesperson for DHL.
"Even while the race is on, engineers are constantly working on improvements, and parts are needed at a moment's notice. Time is of the essence on the track.
Therefore a trusted logistics partner who can deliver fast, flexible and reliable support is the key behind the world's biggest and fastest motor sport event. This is a huge responsibility and one that DHL is proud to carry as the Official Logistics Partner of Formula One," he continued.
As the official logistics partner of Formula One, DHL has partnered with former Formula One driver Christian Danner, who will be reporting on behalf of DHL, directly from the race track via Twitter. Christian will be running a series of competitions for racing enthusiasts, who will have the opportunity to win fantastic prizes during the event, including Nintendo Wii consoles and official Formula One computer games.
A select global team works closely with Formula One Management (FOM) to ensure the seamless logistics support for races and official test runs around the world. Both the DHL and Formula One teams share values necessary for a demanding task like this such as speed, precision, reliability and teamwork.
These values are highlighted in a statement released by DHL ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: "It's this combination of characteristics together with the global presence, extensive industry expertise and proactive approach that makes DHL the Official Logistics partner of Formula 1 One and any other industry.
When the cars cross the finishing line, the logistics race in on again. The DHL motor sports team ensures all the freight gets on its way to F1 team headquarters or to the location of the first Grand Prix event kicking off in 2011."

Formula Three $90.81 Formula Three, also called Formula 3 or F3, is a class of openwheel formula racing. The various championships held in Europe, Australia, South America and Asia form an important step for many prospective Formula One drivers. Formula Three has traditionally been regarded as the first major stepping stone for F1 hopefulsit is typically the first point in a drivers career at which most drivers in the series are aiming at professional careers in racing rather than being amateurs and enthusiasts. F3 is not cheap (a competitive seat in British F3 now costs around 400,000 and about 80,000 in Asia, for a years racing), but is regarded as a key investment in a young drivers future career. Success in F3 can lead directly to more senior formulae such as F2, GP2, A1 Grand Prix, or even a Formula One test or race seat. 2002 Formula One Season $97.19 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The 2002 Formula One season was the 53rd FIA Formula One World Championship season. It commenced on March 3, 2002, and ended on October 13 after seventeen races. He won a record 11 Grands Prix, surpassing the previous highest total of 9 wins held. He would also set the record for shortest time in which the World Drivers Championship had been clinched, securing the title with a win at the French Grand Prix, with 6 races to go in the season. Schumacher took the Drivers Title by a record 67 point margin over teammate Rubens Barrichello, beating his own previous record for the 2001 season. Schumacher and Barrichello helped Ferrari amass more points than the rest of the constructors put together. For next season, the FIA would change the points system.
