How is British Gas Saving The Environment?
British Gas often receives negative press over a variety issues, but the UK's largest energy supplier also promotes and supports a number of initiatives and schemes which give back to the community. In recent years it has become very active in promoting green initiatives and providing customers with information on how to save energy and reduce bills. This comes at a time when global energy prices are rising and consequently placing additional financial burden on the average household.
Microgeneration
One of the latest schemes undertaken by the energy giant includes a partnership deal with Sainsbury's Energy. This is an attempt to raise awareness of microgeneration, which is basically the practice of small scale energy generation by individuals and small communities, British Gas and Sainsbury's Energy are offering a range of energy technologies and information in supermarkets.
Supermarket customers will be able to find deals and learn how micorgeneration can help them reduce their bills and carbon footprint. According to a recent report about 87% of British consumers do not know what microgeneration is. The idea is to get households to install solar panels and other technology which can help them generate some of their own energy and save money.
British Gas Backs National Carbon Monoxide Awareness
It is a silent killer which kills dozens of people every year. The sad truth is on many occasions these accidents could have been avoided. Energy UK's Be Alarmed campaign is being backed by British Gas by lending support to raise awareness of carbon monoxide poisoning and its dangers. The colourless odourless gas which is difficult to detect and occurs when fuel such as gas, oil and wood burn without enough air is often a result of poor heating system or appliance maintenance.
The campaign hopes to raise awareness of the importance of installing carbon monoxide detectors and having your heating system serviced regularly by a professional. According to research by Be Alarmed almost two thirds of homes in the UK could be at risk from carbon monoxide because they do not have an audible carbon monoxide alarm.
British Gas Customers Save Money
British Gas along with other energy suppliers is currently being investigated by OFGEM because of recent price hikes. Even so according to a recent report from the Centre for Economics and Business Research, some British Gas customers have saved 22% on energy bills or about £322 each year between 2006 and 2010 by installing energy efficient gas boilers and insulation. The same British Gas customers also saw a 44% reduction in gas use. Cavity wall insulation reduced household gas consumption by a typical 18.3%, energy efficient gas boilers reduced use by 18% and loft insulation reduced consumption by 13.8%.
British Gas is also offering Dual Fuel customers free insulation which can reduce heat loss in the home. According to the energy supplier a household could save about £110 per year by installing cavity wall insulation. There are only 200,000 installations available and you must apply before 31st of May. You can also obtain free insulation if you are over 70 and currently receive at least one of several benefits, such as, council tax, housing or income support.
According to British Gas as a much as 1 in every 4 pounds spent on heating is wasted because of poor insulation.

Oil and Gas in Africa $89 The book, a joint work of the African Development Bank and the African Union, presents a comprehensive analysis of the oil and gas resources in Africa. It uniquely highlights, through country examples, and with an African focus but a global perspective, the specific challenges and constraints facing the continent as a whole in the exploitation and utilization of its oil and gas resources. It partly draws on a model that simulates the impact of high oil prices on African economies, amodel that was developed by the Research Department of the Bank in a separate study. The roles of AfDB and AU are analyzed, considering their differing, but complementary, mandates geared towards the development of the continent. Finally, the book includes recommendations on the future directionsand actions for maximizing benefits of Africa's oil and gas resources. |

Offshore Oil and Gas in California $76.47 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Offshore oil and gas in California provides a significant portion of the states petroleum production. Offshore oil and gas has been a contentious issue for decades, first over the question of state versus federal ownersip, but since 1969 mostly over questions of resource development versus environmental protection. Notable offshore fields include the Ellwood Oil Field and the Wilmington Oil Field, both of which are partially onshore and partially offshore, and the large Dos Cuadras Field in the Santa Barbara Channel, which is entirely in the federal zone. Oil and Gas Equipment in Indonesia $195 How to Strategically Evaluate Indonesia. Perhaps the most efficient way of evaluating Indonesia is to consider key dimensions which themselves are composites of multiple factors. Composite portfolio approaches have long been used by strategic planners. The biggest challenge in this approach is to choose the appropriate factors that are the most relevant to international planning. The two measures of greatest relevance to oil and gas equipment are “latent demand” and “market accessibility”. The figure below summarizes the key dimensions and recommendations of such an approach. Using these two composites, one can prioritize all countries of the world. Countries of high latent demand and high relative accessibility (e.g. easier entry for one firm compared to other firms) are given highest priority. The figure below shows two different scenarios. Accessibility is defined as a firm’s ease of entering or supplying from or to a market (the “supply side”), and latent demand is an indicator of the potential in serving from or to the market (the “demand side”). Framework for Prioritizing Countries. Demand/Market Potential Driven Firm. Relative Accessibility. Accessibility/Supply Averse Firm. In the top figure, the firm is driven by market potential, whereas the bottom figure represents a firm that is driven by costs or by an aversion to difficult markets. This report treats the reader as coming from a “generic firm” approaching the global market – neither a market-driven nor a cost-driven company. Planners must therefore augment this report with their own company-specific factors that might change the priorities (e.g. a Canadian firm may have higher accessibility in Canada than a German firm). Latent Demand and Accessibility in Indonesia. This report provides a detailed overview of factors driving latent demand and accessibility for oil and gas equipment in Indonesia. Latent demand is largely driven by economic fundamentals specific to oil and gas equipment. This topic is discussed in Chapter 2 using work carried out in Indonesia on behalf of American firms and authored by the United States government (typically commercial attachés or similar persons in local offices of the U.S. Department of State). I have included a number of edits to clarify the information provided. Latent demand only represents half of the picture. Chapter 2 also deals with micro-accessibility for oil and gas equipment in Indonesia. I use the term “micro” since the discussion is focused specifically on oil and gas equipment. Chapter 3 is also a stand-alone report that I have authored. It covers proxy pro-forma financial indicators of firms operating in Indonesia. I use the word “proxy” because the provided figures only cover a “what if” scenario, based on actual operating results for firms in Indonesia. The numbers are only indicative of an average firm whose primary activity is in Ind |
