Snowmobile trips to Lapland
Snowmobile Safaris range in length and duration and many snowmobile trips will incorporate many trips to some of the other attractions in Lapland such as the Lainio snow village and the Ice hotel.
You can discover and experience all of the beautiful terrain that Lapland has to offer on one of these fantastic snowmobile trips. You can drive through snow covered forests and over some of the vast lakes and take in the fantastic awe inspiring beauty. You may experience the Northern lights on the way and during December you will experience the blue glow of the twilight. There are vast expanses of snowmobile tracks in Lapland and there are many variations in the routes you take. You can also hire your own snowmobile from one of the many activity centres and go off and explore for yourself. All snowmobiles are safe and you are given full instructions on how to drive before you set off.
If you are an experienced rider and have rode snowmobiles before, you will have no fear and will be more than happy to set off and visit some of the great attractions, however if you have not driven a snowmobile before, you may want to opt for one of the organised tours where you will travel out as part of a group and receive constant commands along the way. You may also want to opt for a shorter trip to gain more experience.
Some of the shorter trips offer the opportunity to travel deep into the forests of Lapland and stop off in the wilderness for refreshments. You can also travel to the famous Lainio snow village and Ice hotel before returning back to your hotel or Log Cabin.
Snowmobiles are a common sight in Lapland and you will hear and see them when you are out and about. Many people come from all over the world to experience the fantastic vast tracks that Lapland has to offer and many locals have their own snowmobile.
Snowmobiles are best avoided however if you have very small children, although children are safe, they may feel the cold especially if they are out for long periods of time. There are many places in Lapland that offer kids snowmobile activities which are great for the children to experience the snowmobiles safely and all the snowmobiles are fitted with speed restrictions which means they are able to drive them themselves and have lots of fun.
