Lapland snowmobile trips in April
Lapland is coming towards spring but that does not mean that the snow has all but disappeared, in fact the skiing is still going strong and the winter activities are also in full swing. Snowmobile trips are a real favourite in Lapland because they are a way of seeing what Lapland has to offer and they are great fun. Shorter trips are better for very young children and there is also the option to have a sleigh on the back for larger families with smaller children.
There are several options when it comes to snowmobile trips, there is the option to grab a map and go exploring or if it is your first time you can go out on an organised trip. Many of the organised trips will visit attractions such as the ice hotel and the snow village, other snowmobile trips especially the shorter ones will take you into the heart of the forest where you will stop and have refreshments.
All clothes are provided in the price of the snowmobile trips even if you have correct clothing anyway, special boots and thermals ensure that you stay nice and warm for the duration of the trip. There are other activity centres that cater for children with kids snowmobiles and this is a great opportunity for the children to have a go themselves. The speed is restricted in these machines, meaning the children are perfectly safe.
Many trips out on the snowmobiles offer the chance to visit the most beautiful areas in Lapland and if you are lucky, experience the beautiful Northern lights which are still happening at the moment. The Northern lights are typically present in the months of December- March but that doesn't mean they will not be seen outside of these times. Travelling into the heart of Lapland forest and witnessing this spectacle really is an experience you must see and one that photos just cannot do justice.
Many locals use snowmobiles in order to travel in Lapland and you will see many of them out and about, you will also get the opportunity to combine a snowmobile trip with a visit to the fantastic Ice hotel which is an amazing place to visit. The ice hotel is built from scratch every December and is usually open mid December; there is also the opportunity to stay in one of the ice rooms if you are brave enough.
