Fish Creek, Wisconsin: Bed and Breakfast Inns That Replenish, Recapture, Rejuvenate
If you are falling into the trap of too much stress, you may painfully find out that it may adversely alter your health. Now is the time to indulge in a program of renewal. In the daily hustle and bustle of our lives, we need to learn many important principles in order to face some overwhelming and compelling situations: We develop focus, productivity, tolerance, patience, discipline, acceptance of good and bad, analytical thinking, and creativity. We have to learn how to follow up, take action, not procrastinate and not be a quitter. If any of these get out of balance, there is a strong possibility that stress and anxiety will ensue. Even the smallest inappropriate comment or gesture could touch off an authentic bout of depression.
Anxiety can take over one's life even to the extent of causing certain medical problems. Although much of the stress we experience can be attributed to one's unyielding drive to achieve certain objectives; not to be forgotten is the immeasurable influence of the turbulent atmosphere that surrounds us.
There are many factors that can distort the human mind. When we are under pressure, poor judgment, inconsistent choices or even mistaken interpretations can influence our relationships. It is with this in mind, that the idea of escaping to a bed and breakfast inn hooks us in with an array of appealing choices. When we inject breathtaking nature, gorgeous scenes, fine food and the helpful services of seasoned innkeepers, we have the ingredients to renew, recharge and rejuvenate.
Fish Creek, Wisconsin is a small village in Door County that seduces travelers with small details and comfortable accommodations. Fish Creek has a way of leading guests in finding the relaxation and reconnection they need. And as they are to discover, a quiet getaway underlies all successful revitalization.
What is intriguing about Fish Creek is that it is so picturesque, so fresh in detail, that visiting there might make you think you are watching a movie. Its historic charm and amenities are all subtly interwoven into the threads of a restorative and pleasing experience. For the most part, your stay will become etched into your memory with unusual clarity.
Andy Coulson, Innkeeper of the White Gull Inn told me: "We had a couple from Chicago who have been long term guests. They have a very stressful and busy life. They own a very successful business and work together. They love the White Gull and wanted to renew their wedding vows. As the project grew, we had a lot of fun planning this. It was just like planning a wedding. We organized a rehearsal dinner, a fish boil, and a ceremony on the patio. Everyone got dressed up and it was a ton of fun. The couple was very happy, as we were able to sweep their relatives away. The event really recharged them both." Andy continued, "The couple took everybody golfing. They also went on hikes in the park, and had a great time. They knew the area, and enjoyed exposing the family to all of the things available to do in the area."
Fish Creek is adjacent to the 3,776-acre Peninsula State Park whose varied attractions stretch our imaginations to a level that is very much outside the realm of city life. The park is renowned for the 150-foot rocky cliffs that descend down into the shores of Green Bay. Peninsula State Park is also a popular camping area where visitors can swim, beach, hike, bike, boat, kayak, roller skate, walk, fish, golf, and picnic. In winter, travelers can cross country ski, snowshoe, snowmobile and sled. Nature programs are available all year. Peninsula Park is known for astonishing views of Green Bay. There is plenty of sightseeing along the eight miles of Green Bay shoreline and opportunities to snap compelling photographs. From Skyline Road, Sven's Bluff or Eagle Panorama, there are picturesque views of the local landscape, shoreline and islands. You might see bald eagles perched in the distance.
The park has a cream colored lighthouse, built in 1866, that is open for tours in the summer. It has been fully restored and furnished with antiques. Door County is known for its numerous lighthouses.
Fish Creek has always attracted craftspeople and artists. Many artisans open their studios and galleries to the public. Fish Creek is also home to an arts center. Classes can be taken in the summer months. The Door County Auditorium hosts stage performances and productions.
Fish Creek is definitely the most interesting of the little waterfront towns in Door County. It is a place that is never dull. The local attractions have a way of irrigating ones vacation with great scenery and activities that will not disappoint. The location is outstanding for those who enjoy walking. Shopping consists of just a few candy, fudge, jewelry and clothing stores, but the scenery is awe-inspiring.
The innkeepers are familiar with the area and are usually present to help and encourage their guests. They do not take customer service for granted. The staff will take care of visitors; will suggest the best places to dine, to visit and explore. In other words, innkeepers treat their guests exceptionally well.
Andy Coulson, Innkeeper of the White Gull Inn shared with me: "We have a couple that comes every year. He is a fireman and she works a very stressful job. This is their two weeks of rejuvenation. They get up early to bike, hike and picnic. They also visit the theater and meet friends for dinner. They take full advantage of the time they have here."
In addition, this one-of-a kind destination makes people want to keep coming back, merely to see what becomes of them next year. "Another couple from Southern Wisconsin," continues Andy, "has a reunion with their kids every year. They do a progressive dinner; hors d'ouevres at one inn, then another inn for the main course. They travel by horse drawn carriage with live music every step of the way. They visit a third inn for dessert. It is so much fun seeing how this multi-generational family reconnects. It's the one time of the year they can all get together, and no one is overwhelmed." Andy remarks, "We have folk music concerts in the winter. It is a magical experience; the fire is crackling, it is snowing outside, three feet away is a musician with everyone gathering into a warm circle of music."
Bed and breakfast inns provide an exceptional abundance of warmth and comfort that will keep guests continually captivated until the last day of their stay. B & B's are a far cry from the many large hotel chains. Rather, they present a touching addition to one's journey. If you are looking for a deliciously relaxing getaway, then Fish Creek, Wisconsin is it. "We have gentlemen widowers who come to reconnect with the memory of their wives." Explains Andy Coulson, "We also get single professional women, who come here because of the safe and comfortable environment."
The Green Bay waters at times can wild, rugged, savage, and merciless and at other times, calm, and exquisite. After guests visit the beautifully serene setting of Door County, they will no doubt agree that there are lessons emanating from nature that parallel those from the education of life. It is a place where we can learn a great deal about ourselves as well as others.
The area's history contains quite a smorgasbord of mixed bag themes from love, religion, greed, tragedy, power, domination, exploitation, logging, fishing, tourism, clock making, Native Americans, war, turbulence, to a host of topics that are cleverly interwoven into the local culture. The history is filled with colorful people who lived through poignant and fierce events that fortunately most of us will never have to experience.

Snowmobile Skipping $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Although the idea seems to defy the odds, the main idea of Water Skipping/Watercross is to cross from one point to another on water while riding a snowmobile. It is possible because snowmobiles have wide tracks for traction and flotation in the snow, hitting the water at an acceptable speed and keeping the sleds throttle open, the track keeps the snowmobile on the surface of the water without sinking. If the rider backs out of the throttle or the sled bogs or floods out, the sled will sink. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F.
